Adolescent day treatment licensed
Tuesday, May 8, 2007

Bethesda Day Treatment Center, Inc.’s President Jerilyn A. Keen, M.A., announces that the agency has received its Partial Hospitalization Mental Health License to provide Intensive Adolescent Day Treatment Services at each of its treatment facilities throughout the State.

The receipt of the Partial Hospitalization License and Medical Assistance approval provide a promising opportunity for Bethesda to serve additional area youth and their families.

Bethesda made the decision to apply for a mental health license at the request of several referring agents.  For more than 23 years, Bethesda has gained a reputation of success throughout Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania in dealing with troubled youth many of whom experience mental health issues.  One unique aspect of Bethesda’s Intensive Adolescent program is that it operates during the high-risk after school and evening hours when research shows that teens are more likely to make poor choices and end up in trouble.

Clinical oversight for the Intensive Adolescent Program will be provided by clinical supervisors at each treatment facility with Keen serving as the Program Director for all locations.  Contracted psychiatric and clinical services will be provided to each treatment facility by psychiatrist and Bethesda Mental Health Director Dr. Frederick Maue who has developed a very positive and productive therapeutic relationship with the agency.  Additional psychological evaluations and clinical supports will be provided by Dr. Matthew Emery and Dr. Hugh Smith and Associates.

The Agency possesses a mental health license and medical assistance approval to provide Drug and Alcohol Outpatient Counseling Services to clients of all ages.  Dr. Vikas Passi serves as Bethesda’s medical director for the Drug and Alcohol Program.  Bethesda will maintain its Department of Public Welfare Day Treatment, Residential, and Specialized Foster Care licenses.  Bethesda is also completing the credentialing process under the various Managed Care Organizations throughout the State.

In the future the Agency hopes to utilize its Mental Health license to expand services to include Bethesda’s Residential Group Home for adolescent males and Alternative Education Programs.

Bethesda’s Administrative Office is located in Turbotville.  The Partial Hospitalization License is for nine treatment facilities throughout the Commonwealth operated by the agency.   Treatment facilities are located in several locations including  Milton and Montoursville.
